New funding to support Men’s Sheds
Men’s Sheds of WA is pleased to announce that it has been selected to deliver the Federal Government’s Regional Coordinators for Men’s Sheds Initiative in WA. Regional Health Minister, Mark Coulton announced this week that the Government had committed $1.5 Million to support Men’ Sheds across Australia. The funding will help Men’s Sheds to connect with local health services and promote health events for their members.
Men’s Sheds of WA CEO James Wild said, “this is a timely announcement during Men’s Health Week; a week designed to provoke thought and discussion about what needs to be done to improve male health. This year’s theme for Men’s Health Week is ‘Connecting for Men’s Health’. Connection being critical in supporting men’s mental health and reducing the risk of suicide. Men’s sheds are demonstrating how connection works. There are almost 200 sheds in WA, supporting thousands of men to make new social connections, build support networks and access health support, events and information”.
