Regional Shed Supervisor Workshops | Merredin

Men’s Sheds of WA is excited to offer this new Shed Supervisor Workshop for two members of each Men’s Shed to participate in.

This workshop will provide you with strategies for teaching safe techniques in your shed, and the skills to supervise multiple members using the workshop.

This event is proudly supported by the Road Safety Commission of WA.

Through these workshops we hope to encourage Shedders to be safer on the roads;  when you’re driving tired, you can drift in and out of sleep without knowing it. For more information please click here.

Itinerary for Woodworking Machinery Safety Workshop

  • 9.30am – Welcome and Introduction
    • Acknowledgement of Road Safety Commission (Fatigue Facts)
    • Discussion on safe woodworking and assisting others to work safely
    • Addressing Youtube techniques and tutorials
  • 9:40am – Woodworking saw categories
    • Timber grain structure and orientation including manufactured boards
    • Difference between Rip and crosscuts
    • Machine RPM speeds for sawing
  • 10.00am – Table Saw Safety Training
    • Full size sliding table saws and smaller cabinet style saws
  • 10:50am – Comfort Break
  • 11:05am – Sliding Compound Mitre Saw Training
  • 11:35am – Planer and Thicknesser Safety Training
  • 12:05am – Lunch (Provided)
  • 12:35pm – Bandsaw Safety Training
  • 1:05pm – Plunge router, Trimmer Router and Router Table safety Training
  • 1:35pm – Correct use of Circular saws
  • 1:50pm – Easily employed strategies for successfully teaching others and supervising multiple workshop users
  • 3pm – Conclusion
