Round 2 grant recipients

We’re happy to announce the successful applicants of the second round of our Lotterywest supported small grants program.

Applications for round 2 of our small grants program went live on 1 May 2022 with applications closing on 30 June 2022. All sheds in WA were eligible to apply for a grant of up to $5,000 (ex GST) to undertake projects aimed at increasing participation in sheds.

We awarded 23 grants totalling a little over $80,000 to sheds for a range of different outcomes and events:

Bassendean Community Men’s Shed Inc Short Film Production – ‘Lost’.
Bunbury Men’s Shed Inc Strategic planning and brainstorming workshop to explore issues of inclusivity.
Chapman Valley Men’s Shed Inc Continue the Shinema project (shed + cinema=Shinema) by supporting more contemporary licencing
Coolgardie Community Men’s Shed Inc. Repair the crane that the shed uses for displays and community events
Cranbrook Community Men’s Shed Purchase a new computer and printer and a wall mounted TV.
Ellenbrook & Districts Men’s Shed Association Inc African Drum Workshop,  a guest speaker and special Belgium themed lunch as well as a bus trip to visit another Men’s shed followed by Ten Pin Bowling. Two of these events we have invited members to bring their wife or partner.

Falcon Community Men’s Shed Incorporated Men’s health awareness night with emphasis on prostate cancer and stroke including the four Mandurah sheds and local people.

PART TWO – Donation of GMS manufactured projects to Firezone families.

Gosnells Community Men’s Shed Inc. Upgrade the kitchen to continue providing lunch every Thursday, to encouraging more isolated and lonely members to attend and socialise.
Kalamunda Men’s Shed (Inc) 1.       Community open day for Kalamunda MS. It is open to all with wood, metalwork and various craft demonstrations under way.

2.       Purchase a lap top computer to introduce older members to AI and potentially control our CNC machines.

Karrinyup Community Men’s Shed Inc Engage Exercise Physiologist David Beard to deliver a half-day presentation to a group of 40-50 members of KCMS and 2 other locally located sheds
Langford Aboriginal Association Host a variety of weekly workshops (8 weeks) to educate the community on easy household fixes and small projects. Partnering with the local Aboriginal Medical service, Derbarl Yerrigan to provide talks around physical and mental health issues.
Leschenault Men’s Shed Inc Heath Safety and Training

1. Purchase of 1 computer, 1 tablet, 1 small monitor and 1 large monitor and software to enable this to be possible.

2.The shed has constructed a leaflet to be sent to all local businesses in relation to donations and fund raising, this will involve a mail merge and postage.

Mandurah Men’s Shed Inc. Upgrade our computer system, printer and reliable access to WiFi.
Margaret River Men’s Shed Inc Purchase Air Con for multi-purpose meeting room.
Mingenew Men’s Shed install hot water systems in the kitchen and bathroom.
Mosman Park Men’s Shed Seeking first aid training for 15-20 members
Peel Community Men’s Shed Inc. Run a number of training courses on how to do 3D printing.
Pinjarra Community Men’s Shed Workshops in photography, silver jewellery making, pottery and model making require tools
Roleystone Men’s Community Shed Inc Open day support
Showgrounds Community Men’s Shed Inc. Construct a pergola to provide a 70m2 shade area to increase participation in outdoor morning teas and lunches.
Vincent Men’s Shed Inc pay for 10 day-managers to undertake the required First Aid training.
