Bill Johnstone, our new Vice Patron

The first Men’s Sheds State Conference was held in 2009 in Mukinbudin. During the Conference, the delegates resolved to form a state association to be a common voice when presenting issues to government and to provide ongoing to support to Sheds on issues such as governance, safety and membership. Bill Johnstone, founder and member of the Fremantle Community Men’s Shed became leader of the first steering committee that was formed resulting from that Conference and Bill has been a strong and dedicated source of support to Men’s Sheds. He is affectionately known as the Grandfather of the Sheds.

Bill is still involved in the WA men’s shed movement offering his time and knowledge to many Sheds. In acknowledgement of his incredible support of the Shed movement and the work he has done to support the wellbeing of men in the WA community, Bill was named Vice Patron of Men’s Sheds of WA at our 2021 Conference.
