Joondalup Men’s Shed

Shed Information

Our shed currently has around 170 members plus another 30 lady associate members, so in total around 200. These include a number of disabled members whom we encourage to join but we insist on those people having carers where applicable. For some time now we have also encouraged lady associate members who do not meet with the men but usually meet of an afternoon after the men have left, and do their own thing such as sewing, making toys etc. The ladies cannot vote or be on the committee and therefor pay a reduced annual membership fee. They are then covered by our insurance for accidents etc, and are free to use the tools in the shed once they have been tested as capable to do so (same as for the men).

Our shed makes toys for sale at local markets and we also have a large BBQ trailer which we can take to local venues, in particular our local Bunnings store. We also collect cans and bottles for recycling.

We provide members with diverse activities which includes wood work, metal work, wooden toy making, gardening, some furniture restoration (this needs to be approved by us first). We are prepared to look at any projects that we have the capability to make. In the past this has included possum boxes, kennels for the Police and a number of other items for both clubs and schools in the area.
