Chapman Valley Menshed

Shed Information

The Chapman Valley Menshed was established in 2012. The Shed has a small but consistent membership of about 20 men.

They are the brain and brawn behind Shinema (Shed+Cinema=Shinema). WA’s only travelling cinema. After converting a rusty Toyota Coaster bus into a “drive-in” cinema. The Shed members take the Shinema bus to rural communities for evenings of entertainment, and to provide an environment where men can connect with friends and neighbours, ultimately reducing social isolation.

The Shinema is not just a movie night, it’s a night out. With live entertainment, food and activities.  The Shed and the Shinema provide rural communities with a needed way for people to connect, meet up with old friends or make new ones and help connect communities.

The Shed’s focus has been on converting the old caravan into the smoothie van and establishing and improving the Shinema (which has received support from WAPHA (WA Primary Health Alliance)) as part of their Suicide prevention trial.

The Shed is now working to set up a woodwork section for members.
