Bicton Men's Shed

Shed Information

Our shed has been operating since 2010 and has grown over time in membership numbers, shed size and the range of activities undertaken. Wood work has been the main shed activity but our metal work shed and equipment is now well established and equipped. A CNC router and Laser engraver are now operational and a training program established to help more members learn and use the equipment and technology.

Our annual fees are $100 ($50 social membership) that covers insurance, use of all equipment, BBQs and contribution towards the annual Christmas lunch.

The shed takes on numerous paid projects during the year to help cover ongoing operating costs. Projects have included nesting bird boxes for Melville Council Environmental Centre, metal seats and benches for a local tennis club, delivery boxes for fruit and vegetable home deliveries and wooden graduation crosses for Notre Dame University. Numerous repair jobs are also undertaken for community members. The willingness of members to use their skills and time to help build shed extensions has also helped greatly reduce the costs of shed developments. Shed members have a range of life and work skills that they share willingly with fellow Bicton shed members and with the wider WA men’s shed movement.

Health and community organisations occasionally visit our shed to conduct talks and inform members about their services.

Bicton Men’s Shed’s established priorities are physical safety, mental and physical health, fellowship, enjoyment, skill development and making things – in that order.
