Our Shed provides opportunities for men, women and children over 15 years old from the Melville community to apply for membership to enable them to:
  • work on their own projects
  • join a team working on Shed activities and tasks or
  • just share time, recreation and fellowship with other members.
The main objective of our Shed is: 'To address the issues of men’s mental, physical, and emotional health and wellbeing in the community.' Many of our Shed activities involve our Members' partners and family. Anyone from our Melville Community, who is interested in who we are and what we do, is very welcome any time we’re open - so feel free to call in and have a chat to us to see how we go about members' interests and wellbeing. We welcome requests from the Public to undertake jobs from small repairs to larger woodworking projects for reasonable donations, so bring your ideas and items to us to see what we can offer. We hope you find useful information about Our Shed on this website that shows how we support community members in both having fun and recreation to enjoy life to the full. Please get in touch if you feel we can be part of your lifestyle or undertake tasks that help you in your day to day life. Open to new members: Yes Women welcome. Annual membership fee: $100

Men’s Sheds are a modern version of the shed in the backyard that has long been a part of the Australian culture. Traditionally, this is where men retreat to when they need time to themselves so they can think and / or create.

Each Men Shed provides opportunity for men to contribute to each other and to their communities through learning, sharing skills, making friends and participating in Men Shed projects.

Many men may not have the resources or skills to set up their own shed. Your local Men Shed can provide an opportunity to use a variety of equipment, learn new skills and expand your network of friends.

Annual membership fee $100
Daily attendance fee $3

Opening in June 2021 our shed is primarily focused on mental health, forming friendships and drawing people out of their homes and into a vibrant centre. We are more than a wood and metal workshop.

We manage the Gidgegannup Tool Library designed to provide resources for bushfire affected residents, and are working with BlazeAid to build a trailer and team to re-fence properties.

We run a milling program, harvesting jarrah slabs from fallen trees on local properties, with the intention of making the slabs into dining tables and giving them to members of the bushfire affected community.

In March 2022, we opened our shed doors to women, and have been running welding classes.

There is music sessions and men only time on Thursday afternoons.

Currently open to new members: Yes

The Wanneroo Community Men’s Shed is a non-profit organisation accessible to all men. Its major objective is to advance the health and well-being of the members and to encourage greater social inclusion through participating in community activities.
The shed’s main activities are the refurbishing and recycling of computers.

The computers, once refurbished, are for sale at affordable prices, to Centrelink recipients, charity organisations and non-profit organisations.

The shed has a small woodwork and metalwork workshop where members can carry out tasks which assist community based projects. In addition, there is a salvage area where electronic items not suitable for refurbishment are prepared for sale as recycled materials.

Our shed is involved in woodworking, metalwork and craftwork (including modelling aircrafts and jigsaws). We believe in members health and to that end we have regular talks on health issues and healthy living. We assist, were possible, the public and undertake community work and activities. We specialise in using recycled metals e.g. horseshoes, rail spikes, plough disks & tips chain when we’re building things and we regularly repair and restore furniture. Undertake both metal (we have a Colchester Metal Lathe) and wood lathe work. We will look at any projects presented to us to see if we can undertake it.

Our shed members come from many trades and professions within the community. We currently have about 40 members.
